Ivory Coast Baoule tribe shamans fortune telling Mouse Box. The box or bowl is a 2 chambered receptacle with a hole that leads to the bottom. When someone request from the shaman to see the future for them the shaman places a small amount of grain in the first camber. Then he places a mouse inside and closes the top. When the mouse has eaten and rearranged the morsels of grain and has gone to the bottom of the box the shaman reads the future for the pattern and consumption of the grain. The box has the effigy of a male figure on the front that represents an ancestry figure . It stands 11" tall and has a nice patina to it.
