New Guinea Abelam Bone Dagger
New Guinea Abelam bone dagger which was later fashioned into a scraper or body ornament. The design is common on spoon, bowls and other utility tools and implements. This is an amazing piece collected in the early 70's during a Ron Perry expedition. At the time of collection the piece was thought to have been made in early 1900's. Once the top joint was broken off it was worked down and used as a lime spatula. The engraved carving is just beautiful. This is truly a collectors piece. When you hold it in your hands the smoothness that comes with care and age is apparent.
