New Guinea Female Figure Clan Hook
New Guinea Female figure clan hook collected in the Tambanum Village of the Middle Sepik region. 21 inches tall. These are part of the everyday haus hold items in New Guinea. Carved mostly from one piece of wood and boar tusk used for the hooks occasionally. They are use to hang woven bags with food out of reach of rodents, pigs or young children. In the mens haus they can be quite elaborate.
